Following public engagement during the summer of 2024, Bath & North East Somerset Council submitted a planning application to deliver a new recycling centre for residents in the city. This will replace the existing city recycling centre at Midland Road and will complement the recently delivered Keynsham Recycling Hub. The new facility will ensure that residents in the city continue to have easy access to household waste and recycling services.
The new recycling centre will be located at an existing council depot at Locksbrook Road to the west of the city centre.
A planning application for the new recycling centrewas submitted in August 2024. An initial round of statutory consultation on the submitted plans conducted by the Local Planning Authority identified areas for further technical work. Following additional technical work by the project team, updated plans have now been submitted to the Local Planning Authority and can be found on the council’s planning portal here.
Prior to submitting the planning application, the council undertook a programme of public engagement including the establishment of this dedicated website to provide an overview of the emerging proposals and an opportunity for members of the community to provide comments. This was complemented by a drop-in exhibition of the proposals held at Locksbrook Road in June 2024 which was well attended by local residents.
You can read an overview of the proposals here and view the proposed site layout on an interactive map here.
